Ingredient: rock candy
Also Known As: Rock sugar What it is: AdditiveRype of confectionery mineral composed of relatively large sugar crystals. The candy is formed by allowing a supersaturated solution of sugar and water to crystallize onto a surface suitable for crystal nucleation, such as a string or stick. Heating the water before adding the sugar allows more sugar to dissolve and thus produces larger crystals. Crystals form after several days.
rye whiskey
(Use a Whiskey glass.)
Ingredient: rye whiskey
What it is: WhiskeyAmerican rye whiskey, must be distilled from at least 51 percent rye. Canadian rye whisky, may or may not include rye, so long as it possesses the aroma, taste and character generally attributed to Canadian whisky it may legally be labeled "rye". Rye whiskey is less sweet than Bourbon whiskey.
This drink must be very carefully prepared, and care must be taken to procure the best Rock Candy syrup, and also the best of Rye Whiskey, as this drink is an effective remedy for sore throats, etc.
In serving Rock and Rye, put 1/2 table-spoonful of Rock Candy syrup into the glass, place a spoon in it, and hand the bottle of Rye whiskey to the customer, to help himself.
