3 bottle Champagne

Ingredient: Champagne

Also Known As:  Sparkling wine What it is:  Wine
Sparkling wine produced by inducing the in-bottle secondary fermentation of the wine to effect carbonation. It is produced exclusively within the Champagne region of France.

1 bottle Hock

Ingredient: Hock

Also Known As:  Hochheim, Hockheimer What it is:  Wine

German wine, sometimes wine from the Rhine regions and sometimes all German wine. It is short for the now obsolete word hockamore, a corruption of the name of the German town of Hochheim. The term seems to have been in use in the 17th century, initially for wines from middle Rhine, but in the 18th century became used as a term for any German wine sold in Britain. It seems probable that Queen Victoria's visit to Hochheim and its vineyards during harvest time in 1850 has contributed to the continued use of the term hock.

Also Known As:  Curaçoa What it is:  Bitters

Liqueur flavored with the dried peels of the laraha citrus fruit, grown on the island of Curaçao.  Earlier versions were based on brandy or rum but now use neutral spirits.

Substitution:  Triple sec

Ingredient: Jamaica rum

What it is:  Rum
Generic term for dark rum from Jamaica. Dark rum differs from gold in that some residual molasses is retained in the final product, in order to slightly sweeten the flavor. Very popular in the late 1800s and superior to most New England rums. Modern approximations include Inner Circle, Gosling's Black Seal and Pusser's Navy Rum.

What it is:  Wine
Fortified Portuguese wine made in the Madeira Islands. The wine is produced in a variety of styles ranging from dry wines which can be consumed on their own as an aperitif, to sweet wines more usually consumed with dessert.

Also Known As:  soda water, sparkling water, fizzy water What it is:  Additive
Water which is carbonated and thus made effervescent by the addition of carbon dioxide gas under pressure. In 1767 Englishman Joseph Priestley invented soda water, also known as Carbonated water, when he first discovered a method of infusing water with carbon dioxide when he suspended a bowl of water above a beer vat at a local brewery in Leeds, England.
